August 19th I got ready to ship out to Stony Point, New York. My flights were on time and nothing went wrong, I was super thankful for that! When I arrived at Stony Point I was greeted bye YAVA (Young Adult Volunteer Alumni) they were all really nice people! My schedule for the day was pretty jam packed with lectures, Bible study, and AMAZING worship. On the 2nd day I brought my djembe to worship and they let me hop in and play. There were two other YAVA (Young Adult Volunteer Alumni) that played djembe with me. Each night for worship we would start with a 10 minute drum circle intro as everyone came into worship. It was so fun and I felt like that was my connection to the group. Playing on a drum with other people was something I had never done when worshiping God. After laughs, awesome grooves, and power of God through the use of drums, it came time to pack up and leave orientation. My last night there a YAVA (Young Adult Volunteer Alumni) who played drums with me came over and pulled out two bracelets. He said " these are peace bracelets". I know these were big in middle school back in the day, but that didn't matter. All that mattered was that I was looked upon as a friend. Being the youngest YAV I found it awkward and uncomfortable at times during the week. When I was handed the bracelet I knew I was thought of. The bracelet is great, when I look at it I remember a great friend, a friend who cared for me.

Tomorrow is the day!!!!!!
I am very excited to get started on my adventure tomorrow. As I sit here typing this up I get more and more anxious.
Tomorrow's agenda is to fly into Newark after a layover in Chicago, From Newark I will be shuttled to Stony Point New York. Once there I will have a little bit of time to hang out and get settled while others arrive. We then have dinner, then head to some worship and welcoming service, afterwards things quiet down and we get into small groups.
August 20th, Tuesday breakfast is at 8:00am and from there it's time for many meetings/small groups/worship time/ training. This is about what we do each day from 8:00am-8:00pm! It's going to be tiring, fun, and INTENSE.

ONE WEEK! until an Adventure of a LIFE time!
In one week I will be heading to Stoney Point, NY for a week of orientation. I am excited/nervous/scared but I know God is with me. From my week in New York I will fly into LAX and start my year in Hollywood. I'm stoked to meet my new roommates and to be working at a day time center. Center for Blessed Sacrament is a non profit organization that provides an escape from the streets for the day. They conduct some workshops that meet the needs of people on the streets. As always I appreciate your prayer and support! I can't wait to show and tell you all about my rad adventures!
